Hi guys,
I have this project in mind to paint a Confederate flag bearer. He's going to represent the 40th Mississippi Infantry at the Battle of Peachtree Creek, Atlanta Campaign, 1864. His uniform would have been late war Columbus depot, shell jacket, brograns. I'm looking for a figure, any scale, that can be converted. He does not have to be a flag bearer. Would any of you be able to suggest a good figure to use? I paint mostly Napoleonic figures, so I don't know many Civil War figures. So far, I like a Michael Roberts figure, but would like to consider others before making a decision.
Thanks,
Pete

Pete, What scale do you want to work in? I know Mike sells parts and pieces of most if not all his figures. So if you want to put something together with parts and pieces I'm sure it can be done.

If you need anything on the Columbus Depot jacket let me know. There used to be an excellent article on the net but it is no longer there. I have a copy of it in addition to other info on the jacket.~Gary

Hello,

Michael Roberts has a standard bearer:

He wears a frock coat, but could serve as a basis for conversion. Alternatively, you could use spare parts from this same firm to create your own standard bearer; there are several figures with shell jackets that would provide you with a start, and surely you can adapt a couple of arms to your purposes.

HTH,

Dani

Thank you for your responses. Military Miniature Warehouse does have a great selection, almost too many to choose from. Just looking through their site, I was ready to spend a fortune.
