Thanks guys. i have decided to add another foot figure - a sergeant with a halberd to give some height to balance the height of the rearing horse at the back. That will make 7 foot figures in all.

Peter

Look forward to seeing the fellow take his place

An ensign would balance the number ....just saying .....lol

Enjoy the next part of this great project

The rearing black horse and rider are in place - the flag is not finished and needs more work.

Sorry for the poor photos.

Hi Peter ,

Now it’s really coming together , you’ve got the spacing just right , showing the confusion in the scene

Like the variety of the whites as well and nice seeing a standard

If I may ...you might like to look at the drummers side

Looking forward to seeing more

Hi Nap

thanks for posting the pages from MilMod - exactly the reference I used!

I am fortunate to have a complete set of all issues of Milmod. A brilliant source of reference material on so many different subjects. To help find things I produced a searchable database index using Excel which is a bit clunky but works. If anybody would like a copy of the spreadsheet, please DM me and I can try to send a copy.

a couple of years ago I tried my hand at bookbinding - here are the results:

I leave it to you to guess what is in the missing volume!

Nap - well spotted on the drummer's side. i will fix it before I add anymore horse, at which point it will be inaccessable - but probably visible!

Lovely work again and jeez, that's a lot of magazines!!

Yes - a full set plus the 6 volumes you can just see at the top of the photo is a set of MilMod's sister magazine 'Regiment', which were also subjected to my bookbinding efforts. Regiment are great references for the British army, especially for anyone interested in the Victorian period.

A fantastic repository of information MM was a great source of information especially when it was more balanced across the themes. I stopped buying it when it became too AFV and khaki based. The Euro specials where also keepers and I still occasionally flick through them for inspiration.

MilMod really suited my modelling focus - being unfocussed! I still tend to meander from period to period and scale to scale (apart from aircraft, never got into planes) and so the breadth of subjects suited me. i agree that it did start to get AFV focussed but I was fortunate that they published a few articles I wrote, which were also an eclectice mix of subjects and scales.

Regarding the bookbinding - I learned how to do it from a step-by-step pdf I found on the internet. It is too large to attach but if anybody would like a copy just DM me and I will email you a copy. It really is a step-by-step guide, by way of an example: at some point you have to join the thread and knotting two pieces of thread part has 10 steps and 10 photos. This is not because it is complex, just that the instructions are truly step-by-step. Binding all of the MM was a long but fun project. I recommend giving bookbinding a go.
