Brian, smashing presentation with a wonderful paint job, all elements of this come together really well. Look forward to seeing in the flesh.
Dennis

Many thanks Dennis, glad you liked it,will bring it over to figureworld next year if youre there :D

Top marks. Great likeness, and the backdrop compliments the piece very well. I might have to go back to including oils in my future pieces methinks!

Many thanks my friend, oils are still the best medium that works for me,i hope you go back to oils as they are great for painting miniatures (y)

Love it Brian! Nice work! Thanks for the oil mixes. It really helps us oil painters. Can I ask how you painted his hair? ;)

Gary

Hi Gary, thanks for your kind coments,as for the hair, I've listed the mixes below mate, Gary I sent out to block the colours in and not to try and paint the hairs individually,i feel this way it gives it a better result.

Basecoat - Any Acrylic sand colour.
Shadow areas of the hair - Oils - yellow ochre + tiny amount of burnt umber - Lay this onto the lowest value areas
Medium areas of the hair - Oils - Yellow ochre + tiny amount of Naples yellow - Lay this onto the medium value areas and blend into lowest value area
Light areas of the hair - Oils - Yellow ochre + tiny amount of Naples yellow + Titanium white - Lay this onto the highest value areas and blend into the medium value areas.

Leave to dry 24hrs

Add a mix of Naples yellow + Titanium white to the really high points and blend into the Highest value areas, just keep working it until you're satisfied with the result, if you lose some of your shadow or medium shadow then just go back in and touch it up.

Amazing work Brian.....you are getting better and better and more inspired with every piece.
Can you slip a duff one in to prove that you are human and make us all less daunted, please.
Great finish Mate, very well done and more power to your elbow.
Cheers,
Keith

Many thanks Keith for your kind comments, believe me Keith I am human, and there's been plenty of times I've cocked up in the past, however as I've got older I just take my time now with one piece at a time, I used to try and paint 2 or 3 things together many years ago, it takes me longer now but I enjoy it that way
