Morning everyone! Well it seems I just can't leave things alone....I felt that the lace I had painted looked a bit heavy and out of scale so I bit the bullet and in a moment of madness decided to 'improve' the lace on the chest and cuffs by separating the worm stripes a bit more. I haven't done all the lace on the trim, epaulettes and turnbacks because it didn't look so stark. It was hard enough doing what I have done but I'm really pleased with the difference it has made. What do you think? Regards Pete

The work on the lace is great, looked pretty good to start with. He's really coming close now, a really stunning piece.

Cheers Simon

Wow Pete, you are a glutton for punishment, I would have been satisfied with the effort you had before BUT does look better.

Morning all. Things have unfortunately slowed down somewhat as I am finding painting the white trousers SO tedious and boring! Still, the right leg is now done other than the 'turn up' bit. I'm rather pleased with the ticking material patch on the knee. I've got to decide how to/ whether to weather the material more as a dusty effect isn't really going to show up. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome! Regards Pete

Regardless of you finding it boring working on the trousers, keep it going, it'll be well worth the effort in the end.
The detail and textures are excellent.

Looking good on the trousers, I guess doing a bit at a time relieves the tedium you mention of doing them all at the same time. Only suggestion I can give you for weathering them would be to add dried blood or mud rather than dust. Going to be great whatever you do though.

Cheers Simon

I got a bit behind on this thread, so just catching up. More incredible detail and painting work. One day it will be finished, then what will you do......;):)

Regarding weathering, IMO you need to go a bit darker to show grubbiness on the trousers. I was looking at Danilo Cartacci's book last night and he has a great example of weathering a white tropical uniform. If you have that' it's a great reference. He uses thin washes to build up the grubby look.
