Hi Ernest,

I don't know if this is accurate, but maybe you can paint him as a Teutonic knight?

Otherwise, you can go to the Medrom forum and ask your question there. I've got some great help from members over there inthe past.

Or you can sculpt a beard and go with the Hospitaller?

Cheers,

Gino

Thanks guys, I really prefer to paint this guy all black like an Hospitaler, I never did one and I think this is a good oportunity :) about the beard, well I don't know if every hospitaler knight had beard those time, but as I said this one in particular will be ambient in Europe and he has some 5 oclock shadow, I could figure that the time his arrives to middle east he will got a long beard. Sometimes I paint my figures without to be carefuly 100% in historical accurate, makes me feel more confortable paint it...soon I will post some progress

Absolutely right

I think you are absolutely right. As I see it, our hobby is painting figures, not doing historical research. I try to get my figures historical correct for the biggest part, bt not as much that the fun dissapears because all the research I need to do.

looking forward to see more progress soon.

Have a nice weekend,

Gino

This is a big talk for the historically correct aspects of a miniature. I agree with Ernest and thats the general spirit that i also use to paint my miniatures. if the painted result serves the eye and soul, some minor inacuracy i think can be forgiven . Waiting for progress my friend

What a fantastic start! I always look forward to seeing one of your posts, as your technique for painting faces is inspiring! This effect on a 54mm figure is stunning and I sincerely hope I can see one of these in person one day.

Thanks guys for your support :) and thanks for understand the way that I paint my figures, not everyone is kind openminder with this stuff, but thats Ok, everyone has styles and I respect them....here some progress on the black tunic

Marc and Gino, Thanks for your comments :)
Gino for the Base Black I used a mix of: BLACK + DARK PRUSIAN BLUE + A BIT OF OLD ROSE

Lights: BASE + OLD ROSE , then some SUNNY SKINTONE

Shadows with BLACK

Absolutely amazing Ernesto!! If I may be so bold as to respectfully offer a point of criticism to one so talented as yourself, I'd like to point out something that just occurred to me. The 5 o'clock shadow you've painted is dark and cool in tone, indicating that if he allowed his beard to grow, it would be dark. This facial coloration is typical of someone with black or very dark hair and IMHO does not match his blonde hair (which you painted perfectly!). What do you think?

Black or white...

Hi Ernesto,

It is going to be a master piece...no doubt

Like the old late Chinese Premier Teng saying "It doesn't matter if it is a black cat or a white cat, as long as it catches mice it is a good cat"

With your talent, it is going to be wow!! in black or in white...

Take care. Thanks for sharing
Allan
