Awesome painting Peter, the wood work on the musket is very nice.
Thank you very much BobAwesome painting Peter, the wood work on the musket is very nice.
Great paintwork on this Peter......I painted this one a couple of years ago and its one of my favorite busts. You're right; the casting is terrific. The left arm and flag just slipped together with the torso like a puzzle. Keep up the good work.

All metallics where done with Vallejo. Started off with natural steel, highlighted with silver and metal medium. Brass work is gold with a touch of green, red and burnt umber added. Then all was washed with W&N raw umber oils and finished off with a touch of W&N mixing white for some extra highlights. After the wash, the brass work got highlighted with plain gold to get a slight shine on the tops. Woodwork on the musket is Vallejo burnt umber, finished off with W&N raw umber and yellow ochre oils.
You're welcome Huw, pleasure was mine. Thanks! Thanks for sharing Peter. It's always good to learn about other people's palettes and your palette has been very effective for this bust.
