Hello:
My wonderful wife ,unknowingly by me ,found a garage kit figure of The Invisible Man by Koma Designs. The kit is titled , "MR. Griffin" and gave it to me as a birthday present.
What I need is going to be a custom base for the kit. I'm not sure how to measure it as it is a meandering shape
I'm located in the USA. Anybody that can direct me to a master baser , or even a good hewer of wood will be appreiciated

I do not know anyone personally, but you can perhaps do a search for people who make dais for suiseki.
Suiseki is in essence an artform that seeks appreciation in specific stones. Dais are the wooden bases used to display the stones. As each stone is indiviual and irregular in shape, each dai has to be made individually.

I know how to do it, but it is a long process. If you want, PM me and I will attempt to explain.

Well, depending on the kind of base you want, you might be better off making it yourself. I've got a similar project, with a cast resin base, a section of a street with rubble. It's about 18" long, and about 8" across, but the outline is irregular. I looked for some commercially available bases, such as pine plaques, that would fit, but I think I'm going to take a scrap of board, trace a border about an inch around the edge of the base, and cut it free-hand with a saber saw. Then I'll rout a simple roundover, like a bull-nose profile, to clean up that edge.

Prost!

There is a figure shop in Tulsa OK that has a fellow that makes custom bases and is very reasonable. Mike is very easy to deal with and very reliable. The website has contact information of several kinds.
Mike made my base for the "Black Swan" scene I did a while back

Hope this helps
