Hello fellow modelleers,
This is my first posting on PF.
I am building a little scene with 4 guys in an icy surrounding depicting a scene in Eastern europe during WWII. Using the DragonLuftwaffe Field Division and Hornet heads.
Glad to get feedback and critiques.
The pics are not that good, sorry about that.
René.

Only a suggestion, but the groundwork looks a bit sparse to convey their location/reason for being there. Hope that makes sense. Otherwise it looks good so far Rene.
Regards, Ron.

Ron. Thanks for the reply. The groundwork is still under development. I read a book. "Tragedy of the Faithfull ".
In a certain chapter there is a line about a couple of men, who are the last of a retreat. They are wandering across a frozen river, trying to get back to there own lines.

This is in short what i try to put down on my little scene. Any suggestions???

René

nice start ,
if your trying to make it look like the photo of them walking on a frozen lake. may i suggest there walk just beginning to go onto the lake . have a small piece of land (snow covered ) then have the ice the rest of the way. that way people will see that there is a difinitive line showing that for you. again that is only an idea. (may not work). but for ice i use wax it looks real nice for ice (to me anyway).
RICK

Rick,
Thanks for your comments.
I do think that a little piece of land(riverbank) should work.
I'll give it a try.
For the ice, i did use candle wax and on top of that baking soda. maybe the baking soda is a little to thick.
In the next couple of days i'll try to improve the ice and try to add the bank.
Greetz,
René

Hi Rene, totally agree with Rick. If I may suggest, some reeds/rushes to split the line between riverbank and ice.
Cheers, Ron

I Like this ! I think the ammended groundwork will look better also...

Very nice name plate you have there too ! (y)

Carl

Guys, Thanks for the comments
As soon as i have time this week i will certainly crack on with this one.
The name plate is home made on a Photoprinter and good quality photopaper.

A little historic correction to be added i think. The soldiers are wearing the winter quilted clothing issued by te Luftwaffe. The situatuion as i described in the book is about the WSS.
The soldiers of the SS where not issued with this type of clothing. This is info for the die hard historical builders. I try to keep as close to reality. But sometimes it's (to me) allowed to leave the actual history and make a little sidestep.
René

Hi there!
You should maybe accentuate the contrasts. More highlights (especially on the top areas of the clothes) and more shadows (on the lowest parts). This should also includes the flesh areas.
Ciao
