At the risk of repeating what others have said - wonderful piece of work (y)(y)

I'll often look at someone else's painting and try to decide what I would do differently or how it could be improved and I'm afraid with this one I couldn't find a way.
Obviously the skin tones and face are superb with the slight freckling very nicely judged, but the coat colour and braiding are also very subtly done - initially I thought the tones were under-played too much, but the more I studied it the more I realised that you had absolutely nailed it.
Congratulations - it's definitely one I'd like to see and hear more about

It might end up in a book/publication.

The casting I had was very rough and needed a lot of prep to give a smooth face for the youngster.

The yellow is best done by muting /reducing the value of the yellow with a purple-blue as a complimentary colour otherwise it ends up too bright. This is also used to shade it ...NOT..... Burnt Umber or some other brown as yellow doesn't change colour .
