Hello fellow planeteers. I've finally managed to finish some figures...
Up first is Dutch Lancer Officer from RDG miniatures.
Quite fun to do although there were some frustrations along the way.
Hope it passes muster....

Hi Melanie

Does it pass muster ? ...Too right it does ,looks really good , agree ref Pete’s comment on the red , nice highlights

Did you use NMM on the epaulettes, cords and pouchbelt ...looks good if you did if not clever metallics

Like the helmet plate ( metallics ? )

Good work on the eyes , presume the helmet was separate ?

The shaberaque looks well done

Been tempted by this wonder what the frustrations were ?

Thanks for sharing

Keep having fun @ the bench and keep painting

Look forward to seeing more

Beautiful work. I really like the way you handled the lacing, epaulettes and braid work. Definitely passes muster for me!

Pete, Keith, Andrew, Nap, Merryweather, Gary, Oda, Mobo, Mike and Nigel. Wow, what can I say but thanks guys.
Forgot to mention in the preamble that he is painted in oils (used my new heat box) the aigulettes, epaulettes, cords and lacing are done as NMM ish, loosely following Milan Dufeks process for gold lace. The Czapzka plate, giberne (bandolier), belt, buttons and pickers are all using AK Real metal paste wax. over a black base I used old bronze, then applied a wash of nuln oil ink, then hightlighting with Gold applied with a make up sponge. When dry buffed lightly with a velvet pad. It seems to have worked out ok....
Nap the peak of the czapzka is a separate item, so makes painting the face much easier as are the flounders. Niggles were mostly moire marks and support pips from the original printing process, no matter how hard you look they jump out at you when you apply paint. Mostly went well and captured majority in the preparation stage.

I would like to attend, see what it is all about. I would also like to attend the Fen show hopefully they don't conflict.
Melanie

I have heard good things about the Fen show and want to attend myself but wouldn't manage both days that's for sure, those days are long in the past, we'll according to.my liver and now my hip agrees. Not sure of the dates but I don't think they clash.

Hope to catch up next month.

Cheers Simon
