Here's a project I've been messing around on for a while, Eddie from the Iron Maiden EP album cover for Eddie the Trooper. My friend is going to paint it, but wanted to share the progress on it so far. Probably about 80% complete, still need to make the sword, flag, and finish all the web gear. Thanks for looking. Cheers, Stephen

Difficult project, but looks great, I follow. What scale is, please? Somebody did it before for a contest in Milan (AMIS). Maybe is helpful as reference.
Thanks man. It's 54mm...I like the little Eddie someone did as well.

Very cool sir! I'll be following and I hope we get to see it painted.
Thanks a lot, gents. And thanks Mike...you will see it painted, not sure when yet but hopefully sometime soon, time permitting on his schedule. Believe me, I want to see it painted pretty badly too! He is a giant Iron Maiden fan so this is something he's stoked about.

This is a great idea! 'Maiden has always had some of the coolest album art going. They could have taken a different approach with this as the song "The Trooper" is about the charge of the Light Brigade... Picture Eddie charging on horseback in a Lancer or Hussar uniform--- Terrifying!!!

Your sculpt is coming along well... can't wait to see how this one turns out

Cheers

Brings back fond memories of my hard rock days. I remember this album, one of my favorites. Great original idea, and yeah, Eddie on a horse, fires of hell blazing from its eyes, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

Thanks so much guys, glad this one is being so well-received. It's funny, when I was researching the uniform Eddie has on (because I knew something didn't fit the time period) I realized that while the song 'The Trooper' is about the battle of Balaklava, Eddie's uniform and web gear are later pattern from the Zulu conflict. But who cares, it's a hell of a lot of fun regardless. It is going to be painted by the great Ernesto Reyes, the biggest Iron Maiden fan I know! ;)

YeSS! Up The Irons! best band ever

looking good. is it too late to put a little more bend in his knees? they look a little round at the moment.
You're absolutely right sir. I wanted Eddie to have a certain 'cartoon' look to him, but as I've worked on it more I like it less. I actually carved out the knee sections late last night and am going to rework them to reflect what they would normally look like in proper anatomy circumstances. Thanks for the feedback.

Looking good dude. I agree about the knee. This should be cool when finished.

Not to change the subject but Ernesto posted this link of two very attractive young ladies jamming out to Iron Maidens Trooper.
