Hello.

Cleaned this up and assembled it over the last couple of weeks and started it a couple of days ago.

Still much to do on the face and life vest but it's starting to go in the right direction ( ish )

good start mate and can you tell me more about who Boris is, not someone i had heard of before, nice looking figure though.

RE:

Wow, Mark, the figure looks wonderful! The face and hands are exquisitely done, and the rest of the uniform goes in the same direction! I also have the Safonov figure awaiting to be painted, so I'll be watching your progress closely!

Cheers,

Nemanja

Just wonderful work there, Mark!
This is not my first time seeing a relatively crude plastic 1/16 figure receiving the proper treatment (the last time was when someone collected all the Trumpeter Soviet tank crews for a 1/16 T34/75 diaroma, everything exploited to great effect).

You've more than done the kit justice. Way to go!

Yep, 120mm is roughly 1/16.:)

120mm in 1/16th is someone with a height of 192cm (6'4"), so quite tall like Otto Skorzeny. A shorter person of 5'3" in 1/16th would scale down to 100mm. Most 1/16th figures should be based on the average height of 5'92 (176cm) = 110mm.

As a basic rule of thumb 110mm = 1/16th scale, and 120mm = 1/15th (like Verlinden).

Cheers,
Jon.

Pilsbury Dough Boy??? . . . Naw. . .

Wow, Mark:

Are you on a Kaiser Roll. . . really looking good. I am not familiar with
this figure. Which translated into old people speak means I probably did see
it on some web site a ways back, but am suffering from a major duh??? and
so it is gone from my memory banks.

Good start, as per your usual work,

Jaybird, down in flames in Stillwater. . . :(:(

Michelangalo ... many thanks :)

Steve ......... IL2 has this article on him, and thanks :)

Marc ... I got it from a guy over on MM Forums. Still shows up on Ebay quite a lot. And thanks :)

Ken ... Thanks :)

Carl ... Cheers :)

Mike .... As others have stated 1/16 and 120mm! This is listed as 1/16th and indeed he stands at 110mm to eye level. And thank you! :)

Nemanja .... Many thanks again :)

Michael ... Thank you! :)

Christos ... Again many thanks :)

Rob ... thanks :)

Tony ... Thanks :) It's a nice kit! the parts count is higher than a DML figure and there is etched brass for the belts and hat! Shame it's discontinued :(

Stefano ... thanks :)

Jon .... as i mentioned earlier in this post he's 110mm to the eyeballs :)

Rick .... Many thanks :) Not suprising you aint seen this fellow about, Eduard produced about 3 figures ( I think! ) and I think their choice of subjects was broad but not too commercial since all are now out of production as far as i'm aware. :)

No picture update as i have just been refining the transitions on the life vest and the jacket.

It really is a nice figure to construct BTW, with 37 parts ( including the etch ). There was a bit of flash but all parts cleaned up easily and the plastic reacted well to liquid poly ( as a glue and as a smoothing liquid after clean-up ).

The etch was a mixed blessing as it was pre-coloured and chipped like crazy during clean-up. however it all got covered in the primer so no problem.

i used a Pyro tip in my soldering iron to work over the boots a little and used liquid poly to soften it back a bit.

Many thanks for all the comments, picture update soon.

:)

Pedro .... Thank you! It is injection plastic and etched metal...

Have had a lot of fun painting this so far! I'm pushing the contrast on the over trousers to see what happens :) i may need to tone it down later but we'll see :)

Wow, Mark, you really made it look easy! It looks like an overpriced-ultra expensive white metal figure, not a hollow two part injection model! Keep those photos coming, and don't touch those trousers, they're fabulous!

Cheers,

Nemanja

Mark, you can make the simplest kits look outstanding, great job, love to see your progress posts and work overall.
