WIP Eduard 1/16 Boris Safonov

Hello.

Cleaned this up and assembled it over the last couple of weeks and started it a couple of days ago.

Still much to do on the face and life vest but it's starting to go in the right direction ( ish )

Just wonderful work there, Mark!
This is not my first time seeing a relatively crude plastic 1/16 figure receiving the proper treatment (the last time was when someone collected all the Trumpeter Soviet tank crews for a 1/16 T34/75 diaroma, everything exploited to great effect).

You've more than done the kit justice. Way to go!

Yep, 120mm is roughly 1/16.

Yep, 120mm is roughly 1/16.

120mm in 1/16th is someone with a height of 192cm (6'4"), so quite tall like Otto Skorzeny. A shorter person of 5'3" in 1/16th would scale down to 100mm. Most 1/16th figures should be based on the average height of 5'92 (176cm) = 110mm.

As a basic rule of thumb 110mm = 1/16th scale, and 120mm = 1/15th (like Verlinden).

this figure. Which translated into old people speak means I probably did see

Mike .... As others have stated 1/16 and 120mm! This is listed as 1/16th and indeed he stands at 110mm to eye level. And thank you!

Rick .... Many thanks Not suprising you aint seen this fellow about, Eduard produced about 3 figures ( I think! ) and I think their choice of subjects was broad but not too commercial since all are now out of production as far as i'm aware.


No picture update as i have just been refining the transitions on the life vest and the jacket.

It really is a nice figure to construct BTW, with 37 parts ( including the etch ). There was a bit of flash but all parts cleaned up easily and the plastic reacted well to liquid poly ( as a glue and as a smoothing liquid after clean-up ).

The etch was a mixed blessing as it was pre-coloured and chipped like crazy during clean-up. however it all got covered in the primer so no problem.

i used a Pyro tip in my soldering iron to work over the boots a little and used liquid poly to soften it back a bit.

Have had a lot of fun painting this so far! I'm pushing the contrast on the over trousers to see what happens i may need to tone it down later but we'll see

Wow, Mark, you really made it look easy! It looks like an overpriced-ultra expensive white metal figure, not a hollow two part injection model! Keep those photos coming, and don't touch those trousers, they're fabulous!
