Well finally made some progress on this gem from Elite. This is probably the 5th incarnation of this figure as I first did it in olis then oils and acrylics and so on to now all acrylics. Since I never pinned this heavy monster properly it has fallen apart more than I care to discuss!!! SO NOW it's been well pinned and I didnt want to just do a repaint but convert it to a french infantryman. Not a hard conversion as all I had to do was sand off the crossed hammers on the sleeves. On the flipside, I am dealing with two nasty colors to paint well, blue and red!! I will apologize for the lousy pics but at least you have the idea! Still much work to do as all the little detail bits are ahead of me. C&C welcomed!

Jason, IMHO this piece looks fantastic. Your reds and blues look great but I am impressed by the face more than anything... nice expression, very crisp highs and shades.

Look forward to the completed work... will follow closely

Your reds and blues look great and the face is very nice also .
Small question though were beards not only the prerogative of the sappers I know this was the case in the first empire
not sure about the second though. Might spark a debate here;)

That's a good point Ron. I've had a good look through the pics here, http://military-photos.com/index-photous.htm and I think a beard might be ok.
There's some good facial hair pics on these pages,

Hi Jason,
I think you execution of the red's and blues is right on the money mate. I've seen your painting first hand remember with that figure you sold me. Take your time - it's going to be worth it.(y)
