exactly ... naval flag ..

Marina and Infantry are several things

laws bene..così is written

the crown was made to distinguish the navy and civil production ..

both marine wore the tricolor flag with home shield savoy

For the navy I refer to

Royal Decree of 15 April 1848 which provided: "wishing that the same flag which Italian union symbol, waving to the crowds We guided to free the sacred soil of Italy, is hoisted on Our Warships and those of the navy mercantile ... we order: Our warships and merchant navy inalbereranno, where the national flag, the tricolor flag (green, white and red) with the Savoy shield in the center. the shield is surmounted by a crown for ships war"

so only the military ships have the crown in the flag

In fact, I did not write that you wrote the wrong date ... but I wrote that hurts read errors of this type ...

you gave the link, and I've read the various sections, generally do not I stop at the first page, but I read the first one and the one after.
I do not write in English and use automatic translators ... often make mistakes ... and read is not the same as talking face to face.

in reference to the discussion I say what I have read in other threads on many modeling forums by people who only study the Italian Risorgimento history and in particular, or seen in Italian museums.

The figure, indeed bust, is very nice ... but then again, some details I can not see them well and I think if it was dated 1860 and not in 1859 would be better

Sorry again for my english

Yes my friend, we might be lost in the translation as I'm not a native speaker too.
But we agree this sculpt is very good and gives praise to a part of the Italian history that I didn't know about and started to study because of this bust.
I think the 1859 title is justified but as you said, whoever builds it can put a 1860 label on it and it will be fine. ;)

For Army flags I invite you to read this book
unfortunately it is in Italian

Thank you for this reference Giorgio, I really appreciate it.
I don't know Italian but I can understand what "bandiere militari del Regno di Sardegna" means.

As I said, it's only a matter of labeling this bust.
I think it's a great subject and it will look amazing when painted.
All of us and specially the Italian figure modelers should be more than happy for it.

Giorgio & T Rex I would just like to say that it has been a very interesting thread and I have found out a lot more than I did before. as said it's only a question of changing the date and maybe we will call him Officer Sardinia Bersaglieri 1860. this new name my just put things in order.

We are very happy with the sculpt of a period of history over looked and a regiment that deserves to have some place in the modelling world. I'm also very happy that this debate stayed on friendly terms and did not get nasty as some threads can. we are looking forward to seeing the end product and seeing what our customers think of him.

once again thank you for your imput.

Ian

Don't mention it!

but I do not understand why you would have to fall on the ridiculous and the clash ...

I'm just a man ... and he's a Tyrannosaurus Rex ... better treat him well :hilarious:

No clash is worth, we're just friends discussing our hobby. :)
Ian, thank you for producing this bust.

That really is a lovely looking bust Ian and a great subject, I hope it does very well for you as I'm sure it will.
An interesting debate too, the sad fact of the matter these kind of debates usually only tend to turn ugly when native English speakers are involved, or that was once the case.

Thank you guys and it was a subject that I have had in mind for well over a year just needed the time to fit him in along side the other projects we had lined up. we are very proud of him and looking forward to seeing a few in comp over the coming months.

cheers

Ian
