Cristian, perhaps you are familiar with the works of a 19th century Greek historian,Konstantinos Sathas. He spent most of his life researching the archives of the Serenissima in order to write Greek medieval history. He has written a book mainly concerned with the stradiotti called "Greek soldiers in the West".Although there are some flaws in his methodology, his works are a treasure of information.Thank you very much for the ongoing support and the valuable information.

Oda.

Paul,I think that the picture you attached for me is the closest I'll get to my merc:D.

Oda,

Vincenzo you are a demigod and so is the owner of Masterclass who I would like you to thank on my behalf.Of course I want a copy.I am sending you a PM right now.

Oda.

It looks like I might have a happy ending in my quest,Although it was a long shot since the figure in question is more than 20 years OOP luck was on my side it seems. So some thanking is due.In random order: To Paul (Rossbach) for his superior knowledge in computers that enabled the posting of the pics,to Steve and Roger for their positive energy and support (always a must when chasing unicorns),to the outstanding Italian brigade (Francesco,Vincenzo and Cristian) who sensed my love for the subject and did all they could to help me (guys don't make strangers of yourselves I wish to have many more conversations with you on late medieval Italian history).Of course special thanks belong to Vincenzo who went the extra mile to help me and to the -unfortunately unknown to me-wonderful gentleman who owns Masterclass (I hope you know that you have made a devoted customer out of me after your kind gesture).Last but not least to PF for providing the crucial "hunting ground"for such a quest.Thank you all!

Oda.
