I have had Epoxy Sculpt get crusty in the tub, but somewhere I was told to stick it in a microwave for about twenty seconds. That worked great and it has not crusted since. If you blow your house up I did not advise this. :}

this might help... Green stuff can be 'refreshed' with a touch of White Spirit- as its an epoxy, it should work for you.
my Magic sculpt was ok when last used but some yellow Milly' is a bit crusty, not used for years.

regards ----- tim :)

I have some Magic Sculp that's about 6 years old. Had no problems other than the hardener separates, but all I have to do is knead the hardener before I mix the two parts together. It works fine and sets up properly.

Thanks guys. Haven't had this problem myself, just in relation to a tip in the latest edition of FineScale Modeler.

The residue on the top, kinda looks like cigarette tar?

Yeah, that's the stuff I'm talking about, kind of a yellowy-tan color, but it's not crusty, it's gummy. Knead the hardener for a bit, and it mixes right back in.

I've had Magicsculp go 'past its best'. The hardener goes less supple and the curing time becomes shorter. It has been suggested before that you can put the hardener in the oven for a minute or two and it becomes soft once more. This does work but still I only use 'old' MS for bulking out, with all sculpting proper being done with a new batch of putty.
All the best,
Jon.

How long had you had it?

Obviously it could have sat on a shelf for an indeterminate time before you bought it but curious what age it might have been.
