OK, folks. Here's my latest sculpt. It's done in Magic Sculp and based on a clients father who is a decendant of Ethan Allen himself. Let me know what you think....and be honest!

Although I am not a sculpter, the 30 plus years painting miniatures tells me you have done a splendin job Pete. What size is he ? Would love to paint this one myself....Keep up the super work and keep us posted on your progress. (y)

Dear Pete

A job well done. I am very impress with your sculpting.

I have just one comment. You may want to reduce the bulge in the right calf a little bit. From the back view it seems too big. Compare to the left calf, it seems unbalance. It may also be due to the angle of photography.

regards :)

Pete, even though the face is small in the picture, I think it must look like the father, since it seems to look like the son! ;)

His right calf looks a little strange... maybe it protrudes too much?

I'm glad to finally get to see some pictures of this one after hearing so much about it!

Francesca

Hey there, Pete! It looks really good. What scale is it? I see Francesca's point about the right calf. Could it be the photo's angle?

Hi Pete,

Great sculpt! His body proportions look really good and it's a really smooth finish with the Magic Sculp. I hope to sculpt so well one day! Please keep us updated on his progress! I would love to see the finished product!

My only constructive crit would be his trousers over the groin area: they seem a little tight, like someone is yanking him back by the seat of his pants. Maybe it's the light in the photo, but that's what I'm seeing.

Again, fantastic sculpt! Please keep it up!

Hyades,
aka Nancy

Pete, It's great to see hear from you and see your work on the site. I like what you've done so far. The breeches do look a bit snug in the front. Maybe if you make the folds less pronounced they won't look so tight. I like the tricorn, nice shape.

Maybe this photo of a reenactor will be of help.~Gary

Hello Pete,

Glad to see you on the Planet.

About your figure, my biggest concern would be the size of the tricorn (according to Gary's re-enactor photo).

You aiready know about the shins (Alan's remarks are spot on).

Now, as usual, Photoshop strikes again.

Quang, I've seen various sizes of tricorns, and I like the photoshop alteration you've done. Pete you may try to "downsize" it to where Quang has it or at least maybe somewhere in between. The alterations on the legs would help too. Pete and I talked about the figure at MFCA and I really like what he's working towards.~Gary

Pete, great to see your work here. I have to agree with Quang on this. Those slight modifications will make this great piece even better.

Pete, Good to see you back at sculpting. I look forward to seeing the figure completed. Always room for more Rev. War stuff!. Will it be available in kit form?

Happy Trails, Terry Martin

Thanks to one and all for compliments and critizisms!

I will have another look at the folds at the front of his breeches....maybe they do need to be softened up a bit.

I intentionally kept the head on the small side, and the hat a little larger to emphasize the size of the man. Ethan was a large, physically powerful guy. I could, however, shave the hat down a little bit.

I definitely need to re-work the legs. He's going to get boots instead of shoes, so that might help. The calf situation is very obvious to me now.

The figure is 75mm (give or take a mm). I'll post some more pictures as I make modifications and additions.

Thanks, I appreciate everyone taking the time to comment!

Pete
