I think it's rubbish to adjust someone's photography to suit your own taste. This is one of the reasons why some people are hesitant to post pictures on PF.......Who cares what other people think, it's a hobby for Gods sake. It's all done for fun....

I fully agree that it's a liberty to adjust an offered photo ....my motive
was not malicious or because of a fixation for photography, but
simply to 'see' the quality of the work which appeared to be lost in
dark obscurity. Now, if such obscurity is a painter's intention and
relies on that obscurity by the easier means of a poorly lit photograph,
rather than by adjusting the contrast and saturation of the colours in the
painting process, then that is their good right, and all power to their
elbow. I just happen to believe that it's become rather Passe, and I like
to be able see and appreciate clever work....but what do I know ? Keep
up the good work Wayne always a joy old chap....

You seem more interested in the photography than the miniature. My hobby is figure painting, not photography. I make adjustments to the pics to try to make them as accurate a reflection of the way the figure looks in person as I can. That is what is important to me. The pics are sometimes a bit dark, but I'm ok with that as long as the colors look right (or almost right, in this case). The black background is just part of my painting desk. No attempts to be fashionable or moody. Your version of my pic is certainly brighter, but you've washed it out and altered the colors. THAT is what, in my opinion as the creator of the piece, is doing the work no favors.
