Good morning all,

I recently picked up this model and am quite impressed with the quality of it. Here's what I have done so far.

I have more filler to put in the base itself. I managed to level the tiles from the provided base with the ones I sculpted. I have a bunch more work to do, but this is turning into quite a loveable endeavor.

Any feedback is well appreciated.

All the best,

Jake

I like the work you've done so far. The groundworkd is very interesting and suits well to the atmosphere of the figure. The same is true for the base.

In what colours will be the clothes of your figure? Will there be some camo ?

Laurent

Thanks for the feedback guys :)

I'm not sure how I'll paint him just yet. I have a buddy with the same gas mask and vest in real life so I'll be using those as reference. If I do use any camo, it'll be worn and a bit old looking to emulate heavy usage and war duds waaaay past their prime.

The base is actually cork board that I ripped apart and glued around a wooden cube. I love doing bases like this because I feel it adds to the mini. I'll be filling in the odd bits with gravel to give it scale. More to come tonight :)

All the best,

Jake

Excellent base. I'm going to have to get some cork tile.
Carl.(y)

By all means do. I simply purchased a few sheets of it, but if you really want to embark on a magical journey, simply make a pit stop to the local liquor store and use the corks if and only if you finish the bottle!

All the best,

Jake

Very nice figure and very interesting base.In my humble opinion you can add broken pipes (and some rats?) inside the ruined groundwork which i think it will add more interest and much more post-apocalyptic atmosphere!!

Thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it. did some work to the overall piece last night. Glued down the wall to the base, after pinning of course, and went to work on the "flat" side of the wall to get rid of the poured resin look. I did my best to make it look like crumbling concrete and even went as far as to do some of the same effect on the side of figure, however I'll make it look like crumbling paint and what not.

I added dirt and gravel all over the base to fill it in and give it some scale. I also added some dirt between the tiles and the rubbish that is at the foot of the figure and gas tank.

I'll post pics tonight.

Thanks! I already have two conduit pipes popping out the side of the base along with some cut wires/ cables coming down. I might add some more other side of it, but am just afraid of overdoing it. Never thought of the rats though.... hmmmm great idea!!

All the best,

Jake

Good morning all,

I made some further progress on the piece over the past few days. I also got a new presentation base. A special thanks goes to Scott Primeau for the base also also to Kyle Nelson and Scott as well for providing in-person feedback and advice on this miniature.

Let me know what you think:

This is looking really cool Jake. I love this figure and your base suits him nicely. Are you in MN too?

DG

Why yes I am! I'm in St. Paul, yourself?

Made some progress last night on the base itself. Slowly trudgin' along.

The Apoxie Sculpt is awesome. I can barely tell where the pre-fabed base and my sculpt begins.

Also, I did some work for a friend on a base that she's going to put an undead mini on. I hope she like it,

As always, thank you for the feedback.

Both of these bases are looking superb, Jake. I think your friend will be quite pleased with your work.

I am down in Northfield. Do you attend the St Paul club gatherings by chance? Scott gave me the info a while back but timing has been tough for me to make it up there unfortunately.

Dave-

Thanks! I don't attend them, well at least not yet. I've heard about them and they sound interesting. I just need to make time for them. They sound good though.

this is going to suit the figure perfectly. I'm looking forward to your painting.

Thanks Mike! I'm loving this so far. Thanks for the encouragement!!

All the best,

Jake

More work to go if I want to enter him into the contest I'm looking at doing by the 3rd of April.

All the best,

Jake

Looking more exciting all the time Jake.

Is there a show up in the Twin Cities in April? If so, I'd like to check it out.
