Yesterday evening I tasted two of three different beers manufactured by "Schwaben Bräu" Stuttgart.

"Dinkelacker- Schwaben- Bräu" is not my favorite brand but sometimes I buy a few bottles different producer for tasting.

I also like this kind of bottle with "Bügelverschluß" (= cap of the bottle).

Not far away, in the neighbour village, they plant hops. They export worldwide especially to the USA and Japan.

You have your own October-fest, Roger! Do you force the missus to dress up like those waitresses as well? ;)

I often do the same as you, Joachim. Sometimes when some friends and I meet we have a few bottles of different brand with us and small glasses to taste them all.

Cheers
Janne Nilsson

I could do a October fest every month of the year. (y) A good idea but I can just imagine what she would say if I suggested that Janne. :D

I just brewed 20 litres of Kolsch on thursday and it is fermenting away in the garage at the moment.

Here is my favorite beer:

"Rothaus Hefe Weizen" (wheat beer), manufactured in the Black Forrest.

The problem is that it comes in a small bottle with 0,33 liter- so you have to drink two:eek:

I overact a little when I say that beer is a staple food in (southern) Germany. So, beer is here not very expensive. One bottle costs about
65 cent (0,88 Dollar, 0,55 GPB). How much do you pay for one bottle beer?

This is my beer for today evening:

How did the add go that Stuttgarter Hofbräu ran? I think it was SH--"Beer, like it sounded in Grandpa's day" or something similar (from the pop! when we open the Stöpsel).

Altenmünster used to export to the States, as did Kulmbacher Schweizerhofbräu, also with the “Nostalgie-Flaschen”.

When I was a student in München, I was Getränkewart in our Studentenheim, and I made myself an Amtskette (chain of office, like the Lord Mayor wears) from Altenmünster stoppers and a church key. When I presided over Barabend, I would wear it as the symbol of my authority :D

Now is the time of year for dark beers, here in the Northern Hemisphere, so it's Franziskaner Dunkel for Thanksgiving, prost!

Brad,
when the missing letters of "SH..Beer" are "..IT"- you have a point. Dinkelacker is known as a beer for enthusiasts.

So, reading your post you have had the force of many people;)

What did you study in München and in which period?

I really like the american tradition of Thanksgiving; so have a good enjoyment of your "Franziskaner Dunkel".
Here in Germany this tradition sunk into oblivion.

Ha ha, ganz unabsichtlich, I hadn't thought of that! I meant to use a dash, as if to say "I think it was Stuttgarter Hofbräu--"Beer like it sounded...." Hmm--do we even have dashes on the keyboards anymore? I am so old!

"Hob i Di derwischt, Du Lauspub, du miserabliger!" :D

Excellent knowledge in german language!
How difficult does it was to learn german when it is not your native language?

During your time in Bayern/ Germany you come in close contact with beer in various manner --> because of this, your profile give me the information: interests: ...beer...;)
