Thank you Paul,
for me this method (Historexing - I like that)is where the pleasure comes from. I'm not so good at the painting and I have to psych myself up every now and then to get on with it. I find having the forum to share it with like-minded people is a real incentive to actually finish things .
Cheers
Neil

Good to hear you find the forum is a incentive to get on the bench , look forward to the IJ progress

The new Diorama comp thread is now live ( ends 31/12 ) so plenty of time to choose a entry

Have fun @ the bench

Simply wonderful Neil. This is such an evocative piece with so much to admire and explore. The grass has worked really well despite the problems it caused. The most striking thing for me about all of this are your animations and posing of the figures, you have done this really well and the end result is fantastic. I've enjoyed being on this journey, I hope you feel it was worth it!

Thanks Nigel, and thanks for your company and encouragement along the way. I'm glad you approve of the grass as you were one of the dissenters;)
Yes I am happy with it ,and happy to have got to the end!
The trouble is, after Iwo Jima I have an even bigger epic ready to start. I have been planning it and assembling the bits for over 10 years and I need to start it before I begin to lose my faculties!

Hi Neil, I only really build Historex kits because nothing else has the flexibility to let me build whatever I can dream up. I remember getting those Funcken books on the Napoleonic wars out of the library as a kid and wondering how on earth I could get to build all that wonderful stuff - then Historex kits turned up (although not easy to come by when you’re ten); light bulb moment and that was that. I’ve really only returned to the hobby in the last six months or so and I’ve rediscovered what an unalloyed pleasure it is - I completely concur about forums and the online figure world; it is a fairly niche activity so it’s great to find like minds who share one’s enthusiasms, get advice and find the encouragement and motivation to jolly well get on with it. :)

So well said - and completely the same for me.

Having now seen this up close and personal I can only say it's better than I thought. To start with it is smaller than it looks in the pictures, which given how many figures there are is outstanding. The sense of movement and interaction between the figures makes it truly dynamic. There were other examples of Neil's work on the competition tables at the BMSS all no.less full.of movement and action and just as impressive.

Cheers Simon

Many thanks Melanie, congratulations to you too. I did wonder if 'Melanie' was Clubcat, but I was not expecting to be there so long so I had to dash off. I'll be sure to say hello next time.
I'm glad you liked the turntable, I couldn't get it to work at first which was a bit nerve wracking, but the batteries held out all day.
Maybe I will post a video later
Cheers
Neil
