It was all pedantic nonsense and point scoring from someone who has a book in my opinion.

I shall buy the figure and paint it as the illustration for this reason.
My model will be that sergeant from the grenadier company who was appointed colour sergeant on the march from Brussels to the battlefield and transferred across to the light company with a green plume in his hat to be the same as his new comrades; as he said at the time no-one will spot the ectra line of lace on my wings in the middle of a battle. Imagine those frenchies saying no we are not fighting him he's dressed wrong.

If anyone wished to be properly pedantic
Colour sergeant, in the British army is an appointment not a rank, and was institued by Wellington in 1813.

Just buy one and paint one and have fun

Paul.

Honestly, we have thought about it, hehehe
Maybe a private leaning on the musket... We'll see.
FeR

YES PLEASE!!!
I might scratch a back pack, there again I might not. I just love the POSE of the figure's. I hope they (FeR) will do some more (fingers firmly crossed).

I do believe that Paul hit the nail on the head here. My understanding is that Colour Sergeants were considered to be the best NCOs from the battalion and appointed to the position. Is it possible that a senior NCO from the battalion Light Company was given this position in another company and retained his old flank company uniform? I would say it is within the realm of plausibility, although I doubt such a distinguished NCO would stay in that old uniform very long.
The points made earlier in this thread concerning the French backpacks and the different wing lace are correct as far as I understand the uniforms and equipment of the 28th Foot during the Napoleonic Wars. There has been some really good information offered in this discussion which will aid the modeler if they decide to modify the figures. Either way, this little vignette will be quite an attractive piece to have in the display cabinet.
With all of that said, I will still be purchasing these two figures and I hope more follow!

Good - I don't like likes ;)

And I still say that the 28th had french packs, and that their light company didn't have drummers or colour sgts. with spontoons ! And light company shoulder wings were different from grenadier shoulder wings ! It's true ! :D

Its quite simple if you like the piece then buy it and paint it, if you don't like it don't buy it or try sculpt one yourself ! I like it and will paint it soon, I know very little about Napoleonic's and the historical accuracy but will be painting it for what it is a wonderful sculpture and finely cast piece, whether its historically correct do I care, NO !

Looking forward to future releases from Fer Mins

Like I said, personally I am not to hung up historical accuracy of historical figures, one to many buttons, boots 1mm to short etc., I sell all of my painted pieces and my collectors seem to feel the same about this, I like to spend more time enjoying the painting of the piece rather than trying to research and look for inaccuracies but each to there own.

Cheers
Tommi
