Sincerely doesn´t look Afro-American...maybe the photo angle... Otherwise nice.

Cheers,
****.

I have to agree with Pmfs and Alex about the face. It just doesn't look right. Too bad it couldn't have resembled Morgan Freeman or Denzel Washington more. Otherwise, it's a nice sculpt. Maybe a replacement head could be had.

Tom

Nice sculpt in general but the face is not afro american.. Looks like a caucasian with mud on his face ...

I disagree. Maybe what you meant to say was, the face is not stereotypically afro American. Or do they all look the same? Dodgey ground mate.

Give us a break! Why does everyone suddenly want to depict Hollywood's version of history? The replacement (or alternative head) is always a good idea though - just not Will Smith please.

Purely my personal taste, but if I am painting a historical figure I don't want it looking like some Hollywood's actor! The real Gen. Patton didn't look like George C. Scott. I like this figure and will probably convert it to a Reb.

It's indeed difficult for me to explain what I meant. maybe this oil sketch by Rubens can explain it better than my words.

I can concur that not every figure needs to be, "Hollywoodized" and I most certainly believe that Will Smith's likeness would be over the top, LOL, but IMHO, having a well known likeness in some instances as a basis might induce others outside the hobby to take up some brushes and have a go at a particular figure.
There will always be the obvious observation that everyone looks different, but in this case, to me, the face looks out of place.

Yes Alex, I think I know where you're coming from but it kinda seems like you're saying you would only accept a face that conformed to the type shown in your posted picture. The point I was trying to make is that there are as many different looking afro americans as there are caucasians or asians. I don't therefore see how you can say the model does not look A-A especially when, to me at least, it does.
It is maybe something in the sculpting. Although I think all the FeR figures are superb, I did find their Confederate officer's face a bit peculiar, even though others have said it had bags of character.
By the way FeR, or any other manufacturers out there, I'm sure a choice of heads with any release, such as with the new FeR 16th NY infantry figure, would only help to encourage purchasers.
