Hi,
I wrote up my simple technique on Historicus Forma for making faceplates for my figures.
Since I don't have a ready source for brass faceplates for my figures, I figured out a way to make them using Microsoft Works, my home printer and colored card stock.
Here's a link to the article..

Since writing it, I've seen other methods on some other sites that use higher end software to make some pretty spectacular looking faceplates. But this can be a nice, simple and inexpensive alternative to those as well as the traditional brass ones.
I hope it proves useful to you.

Thanks Craig!

Its almost the same technique that I use although I picked up the trick with borders.

One can download different fonts free from the internet and have the whole palette of colours for the border, text and background. Other effect like shading can be done.

I also invert the picture in MS paint and then print it on Ink Jet Transparent sheet and paint the backside with Warhammer primer Skull White. Then after the primer is dry I put on doubble sided tape and attach to the base. Works like a charm and looks real cool. One can chose fonts and colours as well as size to go with the object.

Cheers
