Does anyone have any info about the Italian maker Grifo? Not Griffon, but Grifo. They apparently made a 54mm figure of a Schaumburg-Lippe Karabinier from the Seven Years War, and they made 1/1200 white metal ship kits, which I have seen on eBay. But so far, I haven't found any info to indicate that they're still in business, nor have I found anyone selling their figures. They're not listed in mirosoft's spreadsheet, and I didn't find any reference to them in this thread, either.

Thanks in advance, prosit!
Brad

Thanks, Mirofsoft! I'll have to keep my eyes open for them now on the second-hand market. If I come across any catalog info, I'll be glad to share it with you for the index, too.

Prost!

Thanks very much for the collection of old catalogs as well. Nothing like a trip down memory lane. If only the pricing had stayed the same over the years. LOL Cheers, mc

Remember my first visit in London early 70ies
Paying 80p for a sanderson, 90p for a Lasset ( 54mm)

Aaah... if only we had time travel. Those were the days weren't they? Sadly, I used to salivate over Imrie Risley figures in the old Soldier Shop catalogs when a mounted figure was $8, but even more sadly that was a lot of money for a young boy back in the early 70's - at least to spend on kits. Minimum job wage was $2 an hour! What adulthood brought me was a job, disposable income and a second chance. The old catalogs are brilliant and a great guide for what we might have even forgot. I use them regularly for Ebay searches and have discovered many, many kits that have brought me a lot of pleasure to finally own. You are a tremendous resource sir! And many thanks to you for all the efforts.

If I read well, the actuals minimum wage is 7,25US$ expected 10US$ in 2016
So wage increased by x 3.5
A mounted figures was 8 you say; today it is around 70US$ increased by x 9
Which youger can afford that with such wages ?
Thanks for visiting my site, and, I'm more than happy if you found interesting stuff there , your compliments push me to do more .
And by the way, if anybody has old catalogs in Digital form, to complete the list of availability, he is warmly welcomed

Friends from pF

I´ve decided to create this thread to help we, modellers, finding a specifc company and, specially, to "spread the word" about the small companies, that sometimes have great stuff but are little known to the public.

I have this impression by my own experience. Everyone knows Andrea Miniatures or Pegaso Models, for example, but there are small companies with true jewels out there, like UP Miniaturen (from my friend Ulrich Puchala), Maurice Corry, Gordon Mitchells, etc, etc.

So, with the authorization of our C-in-C Gordy, i created this thread, that have the purpose of helping modellers, not "marketing" or something like that.

Now, the fun part: everyone will help. I started the thread, but i do not know all companies. So, you know/own a company and did not saw it here? Post it, i will edit the initial post and we can keep the index up to date.

Disclaimer 1: I decided to not include compnies no longer in production to not cause confusion in the list

Disclaimer 2: Since the qualification of a company as "big" or "small" is subjective, any company can be listed here.

Disclaimer 3: Nor i nor planetFigure are endorsing any of these companies; sometimes one can have a bad experience with a company or a store, but that is a matter for other thread.

That is it, i hope that you guys like the idea and help it!

Filipe from Brazil :)
