That's a fair point Steve. The only (potential) issue I can see with that is where do we draw the line between "pro" and "am"? I can think of maybe a dozen guys on here who are definitely in a class of their own but with maybe the same number again snapping at their heels. After that it all becomes less clear-cut, but still with a lot of talented guys posting stuff up.

It might be something worth looking at though if the proposed MOTM proves popular, with a lot of guys entering but the same handful sweeping the board month after month. The system can always be tweaked later as & when necessary.

Why not have a caveat that winners of the month cannot enter the following month..........:sneaky:

I think that a little unfair, But I would hope that any member worth their salt would on their own volition let other's get a look in. But I take your point if the same persons keep walking away with top spot , others may take the attitude of why bother. Difficult one.

Not sure unfair is the right word....it would bring a balance to the concept IMHO....and maintain the interest for others....

I'd been thinking about that Ron ( I see pros and cons), and/or limiting to one the number of pieces that a member can enter in any given month.

Please dont get me wrong I agree with you you 100% but not sure the best way to deal with it. If it needs dealing with at all. Yet.

Guys, I may be entirely way off base here, but the way I took it at the start of the thread, no one had to enter anything.I thought we would just look at the figures in V-bench and completed sections like normal, then at the end of the month, just pick your favourite work that had been posted and nominate it.

That way, the V-bench and completed sections just roll on as normal, and people wont hold back from posting as usual just to try and enter the comp. Why does anyone have to enter anything in particular?.... cant people just vote at the end of the month for their favourite piece posted?

Like I said, I have probably missed the point entirely, but that was the way I first saw it.

Cheer's,
Jeff.

Yes Jeff you missed the point mate. But you are quite right that no one has to enter anything.

- Steve

I'm with you Jeff, keep it simple.
Would it be possible to just have an extra voting button next to the likes? Limited to one vote per subject per member,
most votes wins- end of?

Merryweather - I'll leave you to think about why that wouldn't work at all and would in fact be far from "simple".

End of the day, if you don't like the idea or if you think it's too complicated, just give the whole thing a swerve and don't participate. It ain't compulsory, and the rest of the forum will just carry on as before. None of that will change or be affected in any way.

- Steve

Well I like the idea, and I'd like to say what a wonderful idea this is Steve. Just one more great initiative you've put forward as moderator.
Sorry I meant to say Super Moderator ofcourse. But if it was up to me mate you'd be known as an Extraordinary Moderator.
I suppose with summer around the corner you're probably thinking about a spell by the sea......I can fix it for you....I know some people in the business and they owe me some favours know what I mean.
If that's not your thing I can get my hands on some nice Cuban heels........think about it mate, I can get what you want and we can come to some arrangement maybe.
Anything you need Steve every month just PM me....
Cheers Mark S.

What if people don' want their work considered/judged!......

Ok gents, after reading all of this I'm game. Let her rip, we can adjust fire as we go along.

Joe

Yep. I think we're at that stage now, so I'm going to lock this chit-chat down and kick it off.

I'll start the April 2016 edition in a separate sticky on this sub-forum (General figure talk) for now, but I am hopeful that Admin will be good enough to agree to a separate sub-forum just for FOTM, although setting that up is (as they say) "above my pay grade" so we're still waiting on that.

I'm also posting a separate sticky with all the details about entering and voting, so please read that before posting.

Thanks for all the support and for all the comments/suggestions, which have been overwhelmingly positive. Let's see how it all pans out now.
