Hi all,

Here's my progress so far on my first bust, the basic body and head shapes were cast in milliput using a simple two half push mould made from the master I'd sculpted in white milliput, this is to ensure all forthcoming busts I intend to do will be in the same scale, and it cuts out a lot of work.

Then the detail is sculpted onto the basic form using Apoxie Sculpt, this is the first time I've used this and it's superb to work with, very smooth and waxy.

Early days yet, but getting there, I want him to look as tired and shabby as he would have on that miserable retreat in winter, he's suffered an eye wound along the way.

The bell top shako will have an oilskin cover sculpted eventually.

Thanks for looking :)

Beautiful job. Making a bust that is looking straight on interesting is quite a challenge, however you are nailing it. One of my favorite eras too.(y)

Will this be available for sale?

Many thanks for the kind words guys, my plan is to sculpt a range eventually and get castings done by a professional resin caster, varied eras but mainly Peninsular and Victorian British soldiers.... but I'll not run before I can walk ;)

Great work so far. Love the facial features. The Victorian period is one of my favourites. I look forward to seeing how you progress. (y)
