Do tell us more about the figure and painting ...how are you finding doing a flat ?

the flat is a 70mm or so, oils over acrylic. The process is totally different from round that it requires a rethink to painting. But it has been very cool so far...
I'm not sure who this represents , maybe that's a good thing Ignorance is Bliss.

Not bad for your first flat Yes and it is quite different as to paint a round one

Hi Chris, this is coming on nicely, obviously late 15th century but I couldn't tell you who. Since this is your first try at flats, i hope you don't mind me making a suggestion,
mark an arrow on the background either top left or top right as a constant reminder of where the light is coming from and where to put the shadows. Hope this helps?

That is coming along very nicely, don't be afraid to deepen the shadows and add further highlights. I know it is difficult after painting round figures to do this but it is worth the extra effort.
