Hi Everyone,

I've been watching all the terrffic work here since a long time. I am also building armour stuff and have a vBench over at Planetarmor. For a sdkfz 250 build I wanted to include 54mm crew members. But I did not fancy the stock figures available from DML that much.

So I want to do some sculpting of my own. For an easy start I took two DML boots a hornet head and some milliput. The figure is inspired by a photo in a book about Swedish Nordland soldiers. He is leaning over the shoulders of another guy who is seated with a map in his knee.

Oh, and the right shoulder board and the left breast pocket flap are not completed yet.

I think that the pants need a lot more creases and folds especially around the crotch and seat. The anatomy and pose looks very good. Don't be afraid to chop the neck off of the Hornet heads and rebuild a new one. It'll open up the possibilities for you. I also really like how you did the shirtsleeves. Keep at it. I wish my first efforts were half as good.

Thanks Bob :)

Thanks John, I really appreciate your comments! You are absoultely right about the pants. I started with the pants acutally and I think it will take a lot of practice until they look "real".

The tip with the neck is faboulous. I did not even think about it. I have started the next figure already and will give it a try.

For a first attempt this is excellent. As the others have said, the pants and where the shirt tucks into the waist need more creases and folds, this is best done whilst the milliput is still workable with a large sowing needle or such. You need to check your reference photos constantly whilst sculpting and you could even wear something similar to your figure and keep looking in the mirror (or get someone to take 360 degree pics of you!).

Keep them coming.
