This is Tamiya's 1/16 ammo loader figure, slightly adapted to depict a foot soldier on the march and weighed down with equipment.

I removed the moulded straps which had the gas mask hanging at his chest, and re-carved the detail there, and also replaced the boots, which were too pristine and oddly shaped, with a Verlinden pair - these have made a lot of difference to the figure, which had looked as though he were mincing along. I also added a couple of extra items from the spares box in order to make him look more heavily burdened with gear.

Nicely done Peter.
That’s quite an improvement on the original kit.

Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks Andrew. Not a bad figure overall - it was just the boots that made it look odd and something that was easily solved,

Really nice job Peter. The alterations have worked a treat and you’ve really captured the look you were after.

Hi Peter, I like the character in this one mate!
Have you got a shot of him before the changes perchance?
Keen to get better feel for your improvements.

Cheers Mike.

I really haven't done much. Here is a shot of the back of the box and Tamiya's publicity version.

As you can see, it was the shape and the positioning of the boots that made the figure a bit iffy. Also, the straps for the gas mask were moulded as thick wedges, so they really had to be removed.

Another absolute cracker there Peter, and once again you've raised a so-so figure up to a completely different level with some unique tweaks and a marvellous paint job.

I really like the way you've got his helmet pushed slightly back on his head and with the chin straps dangling down, it really emphasises what you set out to achieve in terms of depicting a tired foot-slogger on a hard march.

Steve R -Many thanks.

Bob - Thanks also.

Steve B - Glad you like him. Tamiya's box art lets the figure down a bit, otherwise I'm sure more people would have had a go.

Another cracker Peter. Your doing some great work with these bland figures. I agree with Steve, the way you positioned his helmet really conveys the tired and hot feeling of a road march.

excellent work once again Peter....you have me thinking of Picking up a couple of Tamiya and Verlinden figgies now !!!
Great stuff mate...bravo
Regards
Pete

Agreed 100% with your replacement of the Tamiya boots with the Verlinden "dice-shakers" Peter - this modification alone makes the figure much more realistic in my view.
I know Verlinden comes in for a lot of stick from some areas of the modelling community, but some things he produced were excellent & very adaptable to other figures, & this small detail is a perfect example.
As others have said, this is a very average box-stock Tamiya figure which you've transformed with your modelling & painting skills. Excellent work!
