My 13 year old son is after one of these. We saw one on the Forge World stand at a Games Workshop conflict in Edinburgh. It looked very nice, but at £95/$180 he can buy it himself.

This is actually a re-release of the first Forgeworld release. They withdrew the Showcase and collecters series recently and are releasing them slowly.

And expensive they are! Although I heard that at the UK Gamesday last year they were selling stuff off very cheaply. Of course I found out too late!!!!

Wow. I saw that and I thought my 13 yo would love it. Better than Dad's boring old soldier stuff. "Til I saw that price...

But, got me thinking, anything like that in the under $50 range that my son might like?

Forgeworld Lage Scale Stuff

at the bottom there's some cheaper, smaller stuff, still resin. Keep an eye out as they release more of the old stuff. Not sure if FW have stuff in the US, or if it would have to come from the UK.

I don't know if this is "exactly" the same as the original release, although the pose is the same, but with the original you got two heads, one bare, and the other helmetted.
The way that it's produced allows you to paint up both heads and change them around when you want, supposing that you can't make your mind up between the two. Otherwise you get a spare head for the spare's box.
There's also quite a few bits and bobs like grenades and ammo, two guns, skulls, etc to be had in the kit, all separate items too, so you can swap them about. The only "dodgy" bit is the cog wheels on the base. They look more like some biscuit grandma would have made !
I've had the chance to do several of these large kits, and compared to the "garage kits" released at the same time as these, the GW stuff wins hands down.
Adrian.
