This is an old one that I had painted in my 40+ years figure collection which I have now stripped off the old paint back to white-metal and given a coat of primer.

I suppose the 75mm scale has taken over this size but at the time I don't think there was many figures of this size about.

Tomorrows weather is going to be naff so the first paint should be applied.

Cheers

P.S. Yes Nap, it has legs.;):p

Hi Geoff

Wondered what you were up to mate

Definate blast from the past here ...series 77 ..they had sone good figures from my memory , remember some being on the cover of Military Modelling magazine as well ...might even have been this one ?

This still has a charm and you will do a fine job on it ....which Regiment are you going for ?

My goodness ...it's got legs .....need to lie down ...LOL

Happy benchtime

Hi Geoff its great to see figures from the old days gracing the PF forums and Series 77 were one my favorite ranges, I bought many of them from Tangley Model Workshop, I think they where in based Surrey, I have several painted but a lot more not painted and alas I am still searching for the 154mm Franz Doring, however I will be following your progress with this one and I know that we wont have long to wait until we see the finished item. By any chance did you take a picture of the original paint job before you stripped it so that you can compare it against the new one lol.

Hi Terry, this is the first of my old ones I have stripped as the detailing is quite shallow and adding more paint would have hidden it, but very pleased with the result. Sadly I forgot to take piccy of before, but it has to be better, I hope.

This was the only Series 77 I purchased I think, I will have to look in the old shoe box where the rest of my early stuff is up in the loft.

Still must make a start.

Cheers

Glad to have the Landsknecht and the pirate captain with his wooden leg and the big parrot on his shoulder in my Grey army. There was a third boy,a French carabinier officer 1812/15.Never see him ready.Only in the US-mag "Campaigns".
The Series 77 are a class of it´s own, some of them waiting for the paint. The first I painted was one of the 1898 boys from the Cuba-campaign.
What happened to Pat Bird?

Sadly Pat Bird passed away I think back in 2009.

Be interested to see him repainted. Those were then ,the good old days. Have been a few Series 77, on Ebay .
I 'v nearly finish Bill Hearne 2 mounted figures 17th Lancer & Cherry Picker Crimea .
Have got main parts Horse & Figure to remake Hinchliffe 80mm Lancer ,needs work that's modelling for you. Enough of Memory Lane:happy:
Good luck with painting, I m sure he will be a winner.
