Hi Joe,

Great figure and I'm sure that when you'll finish him he will be even greater. I wish I had you sculpting talent. The uniform will it be green and yellow? I'm just asking because I remember seeing a figure in figurine looking very much like the sketch. It was painted green and yellow (the uniform that is). That figure was scratchbuilt too. If it's the same, let me know and I'll have a look what issue a figurine it's in.

Keep up the superb work,

Gino.

Thanks guys. I really do appreciate all the kind words and the encouragement. The mannequins that I use are from my good friend Bill Chilstrom. He has made castings of these and this is what he uses as well. He has them in 54 and 35th scale.

Gino,

The colors for this figure can be pretty much anything I guess. He will have a white coat with a blue band at the bottom and then the rest is pretty much open. I did see another picture with the trim on the coat in red. I will have to see which I think looks better. I will post some new pictures soon. I hope that you will like it when it is completed. :)

That is a great subject. Wish I'd thought of it. Reminds me of Huckleberry Finn. Can't wait to see how it develops.

Joe, the project looks very promising so far. (y)

Gary, you have a deft hand with a pencil! Wish I could draw as easily as you do.

Can you tell us more about the subject? I understand that 'creole' was used for the mixed blood between the French colonials and the African slaves? Does it apply here?

I'm looking forward to the next step.:)

Quang,

Thanks. I will check on the information on the Creoles and get back to you. I live here in St Charles, MO and this is where they are mention often in the book.

Shane,

Thanks on 2 accounts! You have just given me a great little idea for ol'e Tom! (y)

Gary is the man (y) and drew me a great sketch to base the figure on, so here we go! :)

Jason and Leigh,

Thanks. Leigh, I try to please. I guess I do the different things because I am not sure I can do the "proper" military figures right! :)

Jason,
I have a few new pictures and I will post them soon. I also hope you like the e-mail.
