A bit of progress, the main colours blocked in and the undercoat for the red has been done, as yellow tends to make the red brighter.
The face has been painted but I am not happy with it, so that may get redone.
I have painted some writing on the wall in Arabic which I hope say's 'Peace'.
More to follow.

Cheers Nap, I always confuse people, I had to mention the yellow just in case.

Peace in Arabic is 'as-salaam': السلام. You're missing the most left letter (the 'm', since Arabic is right-to-left).

That's been sorted, thank you Henkm.

Cheers for the tip re the yellow & red, Bob. I’m loving Mike Chappell’s artwork in everything he ever did for Osprey/Blandford/Wessex Military Publishing etc, but I have to say “what were they thinking?” when the Legion uniform designers had the idea of putting a chinstrap on a beret.......
Just an observation, no disrespect intended towards La Legion Etrangere, whose history has always fascinated me.

If you use a white undercoat there is no need to use yellow, I just undercoated in black, not a favourite though.
Thank

I know they have legs but they are cracking releases from T54,and anyway I would ruin your Kolinsky if you do the walls ...lol

Keep painting young Bob

Nap

Cheers Nap, yes they have some cracker's but waiting for the next bust from Stu.

Most of the painting has been completed, the rest should take another day or so. One thing I have done is to change the officers cane for a slightly smaller one, made from a old drill bit. This looks more in scale.
Apparently officers of the legion did not carry swords at this time but were armed with a cane, although he has armed himself with a cavalry pistol.

Nap

Outstanding work, Bob - as Nap says, the reds are stunning & the gorget & epaulettes look awesome too!

On the last stretch now, but I don't think I will get this done by Xmas
Many thanks to you both, Merry Christmas have a good new year.

Very nice indeed Bob. My thanks also for the tips on the red.

Merry Christmas from Down Under.

I found that undercoating in black then painting red took coat after coat, so I thought I would try yellow, it works for me.
Merry Christmas to you and keep safe.
