Saw Ellie's Minitures,Ian at the recent Euro. He has got a great range of figures and his display looked very impressive with his range painted by some very talented painters.

I believe this was painted by Mark Bennett, Gothikgeek.

Looking forward to your version.

Peter.

Thank you.
That's right Peter, Mark did paint this one, I've already been picking his brains this morning. :playful:

As promised a little sbs of how I've done the braid.

First of all the musicians braid on the collar and cuffs was given a base coat of Andrea AC39 Beige. I try not to use white except for highlighting.
The surrounding area was given a coat of Andrea NAC11 Navy Blue. This will be the base coat for the uniform. I've done this so I shouldn't have to go too close to the finished braid again with a brush and mess it up.

Next step using Andrea AC21 Bsic Blue and a very fine brush I drew X's around the collar and inverted V's on the cuffs. The plan was to do X's on the cuffs too but no way was that going to work.

Next step, using Andrea AC12 Basic Red I put tiny blobs of paint in the Beige spaces between the blue X's and V's.

This doesn't look too good at this magnification and others will be much better at it than me but from normal viewing distance without my glasses on it looks okay. :)

Looks ok to me mate, My fig Im working on has just gone into the dettol bath again. for the third time. Deep Joy
Mick

Thanks Mick, I'll probably give the braid a thin wash with something or other and then take another pic from a sensible distance and see how it looks.

Sorry to hear about multiple dettoling, I'm sure it'll come right in the end.

Hi Roger that's looking good I looked for some reference for you but the photos were not good enough to get the right pattern. but it looks like you have cracked it mate. mark said it was a bit of a bugger to do. ho and don't forget the trumpet cord and the tassels. you will have it down pat by that time lol:joyful:

I promise the next releases will not have so much intercut work on them. or you could try your had at the officer with the flag it's all in relief. keep going mate it's looking good.

cheers

Thanks Ian, we were posting at the same time there I think. I promise this won't be the last of your figs I paint.
