Hello everyone. I was working on sculpting works from the summer. I post it because it was almost completed.
This is a French knight in the first half of the 14th century. The size is 1/9 scale. Based on the illustration of Angus McBride.
The main material used super sculpey FIRM. I made chain mail with an enameled wire with a diameter of 0.2 mm.
Afterwards it is completed by spraying a surfacer and checking the surface. But I did not understand the structure of bevor. In the illustration of Angus McBride I saw three rivets on the side so I followed it, but a hinge is drawn in the illustration of a manuscript of the 14th century. So I may change the detail of this part.

I searched the image of bevor of the 14th century, but only things of the 15th century came out. Does anyone know the image that seems to be helpful? I would appreciate it if you show it to me.

Very nice indeed, re the bevor it was mainly used with a sallet type helm and so is more likely to be 1400s than 1300s. That said it must have evolved from somewhere. I'm not sure where the Angus McBride one was sourced from, I've not seen an example like it, but that doesn't mean it didn't exist. I recall seeing an illustration somewhere of a similar piece coupled with a kettle helm. but damned if I can lay my hand to it right now. If I do I'll post it

Great job, Myouchin!
As per bevor's construction, the leather stripes were used to hold it in place.

Cheers Borek :)

I have no words ... There are no such works done by hand.

Thank you Vital. Your sculpted samurai is also amazing!!

Thank you for showing me the historical materials. In Japan, there are few opportunities for publication of such overseas armed history materials. Also my language skill is poor, so I have difficulty finding it on PC. So I'm grateful to you for your help.
Absolutely fantastic superb work

Hello mortier, thank you for the praise.:)

Hello Steve, I appreciate that you have taken the time to look for illustrations.

As you say, bevor and gorget are common in the 15th century, but things in the fourteenth century seem to be very few. However, the bottom image I showed was on OSPREY's "FRENCH MEDIEVAL ARMIES 1000-1300" (This book is the Japanese version has been published). It seems that it is an illustration of a book written in French in the early fourteenth century. This person is wearing ailette on his shoulder. Since ailette seems to disappear in the 1320s, I think that it is reasonable that this illustration is an early period of the 14th century. However, knowledge of my medieval knight is only based on few books that can be read in Japanese, so it is very difficult for me to judge these problems.

Oh WOW!!! Stunning in every way

Will this be a commercial piece

Tommi

Thank you for a nice word, Tommi. Whether it becomes a commercial piece depends on my efforts.

Hello Alex, Thank you for showing the historical materials. I guess it might have been the same way to install a visor on the bascinet (pin it in the hinge and fix it). But I can not be confident of my idea

I hope to make my work as a product. But for that, I must solve many problems. So I do not know if it will be realized.
Excellent sculptwork.
