Ciao all,

I'm painting this amazing figure from Stefano Cannone.

Seems quite popular these days, also Ernest is painting one, and what a great result!!

Oils were still fresh when I made the photo, the lipstick effect is gone now..

I've also made a video tutorial on my blog.

Let me know what you think.

Ciao

Giovanni

Giovanni,

Lovely painting mate, I realy like your subtle transitions. Do you use a stipling technique with oils?? The reason I ask is that you appear to have stipled the base colour over the shadow colour on the face to harmonise the two colours and make them blend together. It's very effective and I'd appreciate it if you could explain your face painting technique in more detail please.

Hi Giovvani
Painting very beautiful face, and to think last night looking at the blocks with your wonderful videos you've posted.
We expect the rest of dyeing and subsequent video!!

Hi Tony,

What I do (and you can see on my blog) I pre shade with acrilycs the face, I then apply oils, usually blending the highlight tones into the shadows.

I mostly blend, but sometimes (deepends on what I see) I do stiple the colours, but mostly is shadow.

The trick here is the preshading, because the oil colours are transparent, you achieve a great resault without having to mess to much with the blanding, that can be kept to a minimum.

Hope this is clear

Giovanni

Giovanni, very nice! Great video tutorials too, and nice tunes ;) (y)

Thanks Gordy!

Hi Alexandros,

It will take times for me to post the next video, but I promise to do it asap!

Any comments or question, please feel free to ask.

Many thanks for the oustanding videos. Not only is there a wealth of info - in oils, no less:) - but the production quality is first class. Definitely have to try some of the techniques.

Hi Giovanni,

I sent you a short PM but thought I'd post here as well... I tried your pallete and technique (based on your blog videos) with very pleasing results on a 1/32 face last night. It still needs a small bit of tweaking but the overall effect was just excellent considering I avoid painting that scale because of my lack of success with those small faces.

Thanks,

Kevin D.

Hi Paul,

I'm glad you liked the video, and morevore that you find the quality good.

I bought the camcorder few weeks ago, I never used one and has been the first time I've used a video editing software as well!

What a painful job!

Hi Kevin,

Thanks so much!!! You have no idea how happy I'm that you have actually used my video to paint a figure!

Please do post the pictures or send them to me, I'll add to my Blog (with your permission).
