Hi everyone

Starting this up as I will be working on this alongside the bust of the late HRH Prince Philip here https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/hrh-the-late-prince-philip-duke-of-edinburgh.371805/

Here is Nicks artwork on his version https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/french-mary-bust.352967/

And my review here https://www.planetfigure.com/posts/1169260/

For some background on the subject and uniform etc info look at the review

Nick first announced this whilst in the process of a house move so all credit for his dedication ...link here: https://www.planetfigure.com/threads/coming-soon-french-mary-acw.312675/

For a look at great videos with Cindy MacShane a ACW reenactor seen below go to this link https://uniongenerals.org/meet-the-generals/mary-tepe-french-mary/

I reduced and reworked the strap/ shirt area .......art work shows white the actual picture of her has a darker possibly blue or red ..need to look into this more

I reworked the hair after all she's just come out the battle line

I also added and positioned the barrel strap which I will fit once painted ...will probably go for the coloured barrel of red, blue, white with graphics

From a history site

"The 114th Pennsylvania suffered light casualties at Fredericksburg, but at the Battle of Chancellorsville on May 3, 1863, it was decimated, losing 173 killed and wounded, among them 24 of 27 regimental officers.

Marie was on the front line. Her “skirts were riddled with bullets” as she passed among the wounded dispensing water, Rauscher said. It was probably at Chancellorsville that an artillery shell shattered her original keg, which she replaced with a keg painted red, white and blue, with the image of an eagle at one end and “French Mary, 114th Pennsylvania” inscribed at the other."

Several attempts at ribbons , tried hanging at sides but wasn't happy with look so did one under the chin ....this wil be left off till the very end

Also basecoated the entire bust !

The subject of these ladies who dealt with so much prompted a lot of searching , looking at French ......lots of subjects and very interesting to read
