French Officer 1870-71

Note: I had a mistake in the title. This is a 1870-71 french officer (Franco-Prussian war).

Yes I will try to blend lights and shadows a little more. I think the result will be better doing that.

By the way... What do you think about the hair? Does it need more contrast in shadows?

Step 2: Painting the coat

I used:

*base: Dark Prusia+black.

* Lights:
- 1st ligth: base+Dark Prussian blue
- 2nd: Dark Prussian blue
- 3rd: Prussian blue
- 4th: Prussian blue + dark flesh
-5th: 4th step+dark flesh

Shadows:

1st.- Base + black
2nd.- 1st+black
3rd.- black

Today I painted red trousers and also the red and black base for the kepi.

Anders, thanks a lot for changing the topic name and also thanks for your comments.

Roc, the red color (in trousers) is made using a mix of red (926) + flat red (957). This is the basic color. The lights are made using base color + old rose (944) in at least five ligths. The shadows are made using intense blue (925)+base color. All color are Vallejo acrylic colors.

I tried to use different colors for kepi, trousers and pouch belt. All based on red colors but mixed with different colors. In example the kepi is mixed with yellow for getting the lights (I tried to put more bright in kepi because the sun effect). The pouch belt is mixed with brown colors for trying to get a leather effect.
