Spent a lot of the afternoon painting the Grenadier, who like the officer is done for the time being. Now having left the sword, scabbard and rifle till last, oh and two right hands, I need to not rush them to start my next project.

Probably won't get much chance to paint or sculpt tomorrow as I have my monthly appointment for an injection in my right eye. Usually I get an afternoon appointment so at least I can paint in the morning, but tomorrow I'm in at 0815. Oh well life's a bitch and then you die.

Cheers Simon

Hey Simon,

Hi, looking forward to painting the guide, post it notes are really useful, not sure how they'd fair if I was making a mold. The guides arm did look way too small, interesting the variation in proportions in plastic figures though.

Good progress all round, I'm liking the look of the Guide. Hope the eye is ok......

Hi cheers for your interest, the guide is nearly finished with the build progress.

As for my eye, still aches but they nicked the white with the needle so one corner is now blood red, will fade quite quickly though. In the meantime I'll put it to good use as it scares my Granddaughter and she's round tomorrow for Sunday dinner. Never waste a good opportunity!

Cheers Simon

OK time to concentrate on the Belgian Guide a Cheval. I worked some on him last night but then the rugby and a couple of bottles of Mena Dhu got in the way.

I started on the cuff lace with Magicsculpt, put more buttons back on, gave him some spurs and started with the cap lines. Lead wire for vehicle modellers who do engine and electrical detail was used, its very fragile so I'm securing as much as possible with super glue.

Not much more to do now and he'll be ready to paint.

Mena Dhu may be familiar to any Cornish on the various threads, nut for those who like Guinness and stout in general, this is awesome. Brewed by the St Austell brewery it's a very, very smooth stout with liquorice in the ingredients, just discovered my local Asda store sells it. Highly recommended if you like that sort of thing.

OK so I thought not much more to do, the lace trefoil on the ends of the chest lace are being awkward, so not too many at a time so I don't ruin them all. Still added the cuff lace and wired up the back if his head with the cap lines, still got to make good around the hole though.

Also working on my next project, just cleaning casting lines and gluing bits together. This is one that will take me right out of my comfort zone, the legs of the figure are as long as my usual scale are tall.

Hi Simon

The guide is now really coming along well , the lacing isn't easy but your getting there

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

PS You'll need to bring your own Mena Dhu to BC !

Cheers Kev, yeah the Guide shouldn't take much longer now. As for the Mena Dhu, I'm the designated driver for all shows now, Andy can't drive such distances anymore and Brian doesn't have a car, which leaves me, so no beers, well till I get home anyway.

Cheers Simon

The Guide is looking fantastic, I love the braid work and trefoils.

Cheers Nigel, I'll crack on with them as soon as, but today I'm Dad's taxi, taking my youngest to Sussex Uni so he can talk to them about doing his masters, groan more expense!

After calming a very grumpy and tired nearly 4 year old I managed to start applying colour to my Belgian Guide. The face is 'tanned highlight' from the Reaper Master Series Paints, the uniform is all in Scale 75 paints, 'Boreal Green' and 'Deep Red'. Just building the base colours up at the mo, though I need to ask which idiot chose another Green figure so soon, D'Ho!

Good start on laying down the colours, that is an interesting tone of green you have chosen for the basecoat.

Cheers Rob, limited Scale 75 colours at the mo, will be building the range up though, plus it'll darken with successive layers and will only be left as the highlights. I do have a more appropriate green (Black Forest Green) to take it forward, only interested in the depth of colour at the mo.

Cheers Simon

He's coming on a treat, some very sculpting going on there.

Malc

Cheers Malc, not going to get much done now till Friday thanks to the normal impediment, apparently she's been whiney all week so far. Deep joy!

Cheers Simon
