Hi Guys ,
Finally got round to posting some pics of WIP , its the MDC bust (by Ken Farrar - Mil-Mart) of a WW1 French soldier in a M2 gasmask , still lots to do ..belts , pouches etc , basework (probably have a storyline) , added some badges and a medal , been having nightmares with the eyes but thanks to all the suggestions hopefully its worked not too bad , the dark patch be;low the shoulder roll isn't there ..its my picture taking skills !!!!!

Horizon Blue , after many hours of references and pictures , I have realised there are so many different variations of this colour but its a challenge and I am quite pleased with the result ..I think !!!

As usual all comments are very welcome

Marc,
Thnaks for your comments, so many different variations on the horizon blue , if I was to do this again I would look at doing the eyes/lens differently !!!

Carl/Dan ,
Thanks for the comments , I have looked at the eyes again and cried !!! , put a wash of liquin over the lens to slightly make them less obvious , the lens seem far apart but looking at my references they also do on the originals that I have seen , talking of which I can only imagine the horror of wearing this and early masks and give total respect.

Will post more pics once I have sone something with the strapping/pouches

Kev, great painting so far, really like the horizon blue, perfect but as you say more work needed on the eyes. I liked the suggestion by Dave Maddox, to drill , paint the eyes then cover with perspex, or what about the easier option suggested by Gothicgeek to paint a reflection on the lens. Whichever way you choose cann't wait to see it completed. (y)

Cheers Ken

Hi Ken ,
Thanks for your comments , I actually did what Dave said , and will leave them now , I have put a couple of coats of Liquin on the lens and also darkened the surround which was rubber both of which seems to help , if you have any suggestions then feel free .
I have now painted the helmet 4 times now !!! , glad you like the horizon ble , like I said so many variations so there is not a definitive mix ...phew !!!(y)
