I should have thought of that photo since I have Jon Smith's Bavarian infantryman wearing them!

But really the other photo you posted probably does me more good. Because of the different pose (just as in the photo) the "cut-out" bit at the bottom will show a little and that's the change I'm going to make. That and remove the already not very prominent trouser piping.

Won't be this weekend, since I'm working, but next weekend or over the Christmas holidays.

All the best,
Dan

Yes definitely add the over trousers Dan, will give some added interest to the uniform and will allow different colour for painting.

As for the boot straps we are both at a loss on that one :)

Cheers

Frontschwein - changed trouser covers

I've now added the trouser covers and I have to say I like the outcome much better than the original. I had a casting of the Jon Smith Bavarian wearing the trouser covers and several photos sent by kind friends, so plenty of references. From what I can tell, in design the trouser covers were not unlike cowboy chaps except of course they were coarse fabric, not leather.

Anyway, hope you like it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!

Dan

Dan, great progress so far and nice job on the trouser covers. Will follow.
Merry xmas Dan and all the best for 2011
Cheers Ken

Sry, but both cocardes on this cap, called "Krätzchen", are too large!

Here the bavarian version (above the german cocarde with black-white-red, beyond the bavarian with blue and white)...:
