I think most small breeds (with perhaps a few rare exceptions) tend to bark... loud and a lot

It may be a self-defense strategy, kind of: "Hey! I'm here, and I have no fear!"


Mine is a standard size German Spitz, and she barks like a German Shepherd... or any other large breed. And she allows no other dogs, large or small, on "her" street... Have seen her chase a couple of much larger dogs, and they run as if some Rottweiler was chasing them...
