Do what ya gotta do, Brother. Progress is looking great from here. I won't be working that NMM technique I don't think, oilers don't like layering, HA!:shy:

As for taking a break, like my old work-mate said, "Taking naps is good.":singing: Lol, he's right!

I don't know about more than you can chew Malc, you're chewing through that detail really well. Good idea to have a break and go back to it.

Simon
Cheers Simon, I did find the thought of all that fine detail very daunting, but once I got going it
wasn't too bad, although the next step will test me again.

Thanks Steve, I thought a little break would be a good idea, to prevent any possible eye strain.
So jumping from that to paint the face on the bust, make a good challenge.

Malc

So moving on to the face of the bust, I've used the AK 3rd gen flesh paint set.
Some basic tones have been laid down, which I'm leaving to settle, before pushing some of the
detail further.

Mate if a figure doesn't test you every now and then you ain't getting the best out of it.

I like the busts face, some nice colour in there, I need to practice with the AK set.

Cheers Simon. Looking at the photo, i think the tones are a bit too pinky for my liking
and I need to adjust them.

Malc

I'm liking your progress on both of these. The face is looking great, although I hear what you say about it maybe being on the pink side. Perhaps put the head next to the coat with the colours blocked in to see what that looks like? Good start on the lacing on the full figure.

Sadly the attempt to correct the colour didn't go as planned, so unfortunately its now soaking
in Dettol , so I'll be starting it again in a few days.

That's the bust head, not the figure.

That is a shame mate but better being happy with it than not.

Hi Malc

Napoleon with legs , Napoleon without .......all credit to you , I think the embroidery is coming on rather nicely on the leggy one

Personally the bust head fleshwork was starting to look good imo. ....but hey it’s good to keep the Dettol in use 🙄

Look forward to seeing more on both

Take your time it’s all about enjoying the brush swirling

Happy benchtime

It's one of those things that happens now and again, thinking I might revert to oils for the flesh tones.

Malc

While I'm sorting out the bust head, I've returned to the figure to continue work
on the embroidery.
Just the left side has been worked on so you can see the difference.
First I added some shadow with SC Dubai brown, followed by a first highlight of SC Sahara Yellow.
For the top highlights, a blend of SC Tenere Yellow and White Sands.
To complete a thin was of Army Painter soft tone ink was applied.

That's great Malc, especially being able to see the difference between before and after. Really like the way the gold work is looking.
