This kit i like a lot , it's a pity you have to work so hard to fit well the horse , this is boring me a little bit because i think in the next months to buy this kit too, so i will follow with interest your next steps

cheers

stefano

Not every kit is the same. My horse fill well together with no filler needed on the top rear where the joints were just sanded after epoxying the two halfs together.

Roc, I'll be following this one as I have this gem of a kit, and was contemplating of getting him done for Euro, but had to change plans

Hope you had a Great Easter!

Ray ;)

Hey Ray, very good hearing from you.
Looking forward to seeing your version and hope you finish it in time for Euro.
Hope you had a great Easter.

Roc, great start and I will follow your next steps with interest!
(I always hate it when it doesn't fit very well)

Cheers,
Marcel.

I'm undecided on what color to paint the horse, so I did some research.
This is what I came up with so far:

I like the dark brown so far, what do you guys think?

I'm going with dark brown. The horse has been undercoated in brown acrylic, and is now ready for the oils.

Marc and stefano thank you for your input.

I just finished painting the horse, as soon as I get a chance I'll take some pictures and post them, probably this weekend.

The horse is painted.

The horse is now almost finished, when the horse is completely dry, I will give it extreme highlights, extreme shadows and some touch ups here and there.

This is my color formula for the horse:
Oils
1 -Base - Windsor Newton brown madder alizarin + Rembrandt burnt sienna.
2 - Medium shadows - Liquitex dioxide purple,
Any purple will do.
3 -Dark shadows - mix ivory black into medium shadow.
4 - Medium highlight - Mars red.
5 -Extreme highlights - Mars orange applied to the uppermost part of the horse.
6-Extreme shadows - pure Ivory black.

I will paint the hoofs, horse shoes, mane, tail, and stockings over the weekend.
