For the first time in years I'm working on a large heavy white metal figure.
Having happily used Superglue for resin figures it's been a while since I last used a two part epoxy.
I used bog standard Araldite. It was from a new batch and doesn't seem to have the hold I'd been used to in the past.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a 2 part epoxy?
I don't want to spend a fortune as I probably won't be using it very often.

Cheers
Derek

As old Pete & Valiant have already said, I've used 99p store / poundland*stuff for a few years and have had no ill effects. Only myself if I've failed to mix it properly.
In fact when I first bought it, I still had some slightly more, like 5 times more, expensive Araldite hanging about. Now I couldn't help but notice that the instructions on the cardboard backing were identical. Word for word. Not only that, it smelt exactly the same. I rapidly came to the conclusion - it was the same stuff.

*other stores are available

Cheers guys. I might just give the Poundland stuff a go. I wonder if they have an offer ;)
Always been concerned that cheap stuff would break down.

Hi Del, Carl Barton recommended Wickes Rapid Set epoxy so I bought some and have been impressed with the speed of setting and strength. I use it all the time now as I am very distrustful of the life span of the superglues.

Not all epoxy glues are the same
As a general rule, you want to get the one with the highest set time.. Not the 30 sec one .. Something like 30 minutes would be perfect with a full strength obtained in 24 hours..
Of course you need to hold the parts together with a clamp or with small spots of super glue on the side of the main joint.
I would not trust a noname glue for a big mounted 90 mm figure for example

Thanks Alex.
I'm going to do a quick test between Evostick Rapid and the Poundland stuff just to see if there's any difference.
I remember some years ago using a 2 part car body filler from Halfords to assemble PM's 90mm Orleans Cavalry horses. Can't remember the name though.
