As some have said we are in the golden age of figure manufacture with many great releases monthly, aimed at a market that can afford to buy enough to make them viable. This makes this exercise very difficult indeed but I think that the Royal Navy in either era might be a source of inspiration, though a WW2 Chief Stoker would be nice as a tribute to my grandfather who was KIA.

I live in west Somerset but was born in Middlesex, so I went with these. There is a whole lot of lovely uniform's from full dress to Stable dress but is not every one's cup of tea.

Thank you for all the suggestions, lots to choose from. Interesting discussion about the commercial concerns of producing figures. I agree with Ian, my aim is for Elan13 to at least break even, but for this project I accept it might not.
I will be whittling them down for a final vote after the weekend, but there is still an opportunity to add some more possibilities if you like.

Hi Rob,
I do not know if this figure as ever been portrayed as a commercial model? but I think it would make a great iconic piece. A great challenge in sculpting a likeness and especially the lace work (also a challenge to paint). Given the love for the Victorian soldier, my offering is a bust of the supreme Victorian commander of all the armed forces
Queen Victoria herself.
cheers

P.S. Nap also gets a decoration or two:D

Firstly I would like to thank Rob for his extremely generous offer. It is one of those posts where you think I'll stand back and see what happens but having had another look this morning and seen some suggestions regarding Yeomanry/Volunteer units it reawakened an area that I think has been largely ignored. I can only remember a couple of releases by Ceremonial Studios, one by Real Models and a special for White Rose Club a while back.
I'm sure Rob has a difficult choice here so just to add to the pile I'm attaching a few pics for consideration.P2090005.JPGP2090006.JPGP2090007.JPGP2090008.JPGP2090009.JPGP2090011.JPGP2090012.JPGP2090013.JPGP2090010.JPGP2090014.JPGP2090019.JPGP2090018.JPGP2090017.JPGP2090016.JPGP2090015.JPG As you can see there is an extremely diverse range of uniforms in just the small sample above, I had to draw a line somewhere....LOL

I would also be happy to part finance one of these or another should Rob wish to do so.

I think inevitably it is important for Rob to select something that he will be comfortable and more importantly enthusiastic about producing. I'm sure that what ever his decision we will be happy to support him.
