Hello all friends,

Now I have sculpt Carthaginian warrior in 54 mm for La Meridiana Miniatures.
I don't sure about detail on the back of armor and would like some opinion from all.

Thank you very much.

I'm no expert on Roman era armor but I see a couple things that strike me as possibly needing improvement. The linothorax armor ususaly has a part on the top-back that rises up to protect the neck. A collar of sorts, tall enough to to cover up to the bottom of the helmet. I also know the front parts that come over the shoulders, each tie down to the front of the armor individually. If they only tied to each other as they do, it would not stay firmly attached. Does that make sense? I've only known them to each tie down to seperate straps on the front of the armor. This is a way of not only keeping them tied in the right place, but as a bit of an adjustment to get the propper fit on the armor once worn. I would DEFINITELY get this figure posted over on MedRom forum. They will REALLY know their stuff over there and hopefully give you a definitive answer on this one. I'm mearly going on what little research I've done on this armor from a couple of my own projects. Good luck, figure is looking good so far. Keep up the great work!

Hi Pongsatorn, what's the proposed date of this figure?

These should help you visualise the construction and appearance of this armour:

On the sculpting front, I think it's important to bear in mind that when the front of the 'skirt' is raised by a leg, as you've shown here, its length doesn't change. You've shown it shortening which can happen with a soft fabric but with something stiff like this the lower edge would sit much on the thigh.

I don't know if this is due to casting concerns but the appearance of the shoulder section is far too heavy to me, I would try to alter it to make it look like it was thinner, if possible.

You might also like to check on the construction of the shirt/tunic.
