Been lucky enough to be asked to paint the box art for Mark’s new figure. It’s going to be wearing tiger stripe fatigues.

The last few figures I’ve painted this on have left me feeling flat so I’ve been trawling through old threads and notes trying to figure what was up. I’d come to the conclusion that although the pattern was visible the contrast was overstated and just looked busy.

Looking at reference pics the greens looked greyer and the blacks weren’t as stark. Also the pale scratch lines were pretty subtle. I was all set to start experimenting then @Venko posted his thread yesterday. It feels a bit shameless but I was blown away with his approach so I’ve stolen it!

A base of a sagey grey green, stripes of an almost black green and muted patches of field drab with very subtle stone grey scratches. Here’s hoping I can pull it off as well as Venko.

Anyway, here’s some early stage pics

Cheers, kempie IMG_3127.jpegIMG_3123.jpegIMG_3124.jpeg
